Fixture List

Newquay rowing club has a very busy fixture list. Apart from training days for novice and junior rowers several races are held each week, both for men and women's crews. On Wednesdays women's local races are held with the men racing on Thursdays and Sundays.

Cup races take place on a regular basis, with crews selected from the local races. Cup races are keenly contested and several have a long tradition within the club, none more so than the Silver gig, which was fist raced for in 1922. A list of all the winning crews is on display in the clubhouse, it is considered a great achievement to get your name added to this list.

On alternate Fridays the men compete in "welly races", several crews rowing to be awarded the "welly boot", this is a fun evening but is no less keenly contested.

Apart form all the local races NRC representative crews try to attend as many regattas held around Cornwall & Devon as is possible. Training is a very big part of the rowing season and Newquay`s seven gigs are in constant demand to accommodate all the rowers. The club is hoping to purchase a new boat in the near future to ease this problem and to allow the older boats (Newquay, Dove & Treffry) to be "rested" a bit
